Inspired by one of my favourite authors — Gretchen Rubin — we have a tradition in our family to celebrate special days like St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween, and Valentine’s Day. We host our own themed meal around the occasion! It’s fun. It’s simple. And the kids just love getting involved.
Start your own themed meal tradition
Whether it’s a quiet gathering with your immediate family or a rip roaring party with everyone you know, hosting a themed meal is a fun way to acknowledge the occasion while simultaneously exercising your creativity muscles. The little ones can invite their green stuffed animals to attend, and help select the menu, the decorations, and even the music.

Don’t forget about the drinks
Green tea is an obvious example of a healthier beverage than the traditional green beer, but why not try our nutrient packed green smoothie instead? (Hint: it leaves you feeling much better the next day!)

Local entrepreneur and fellow food and fitness lover, Jillian Raycroft, has also created a delicious signature Green Belly drink that she serves up at the juice bar inside her Belleville studio, Alive and Strong.
So there you have it. The sky’s the limit when it comes to creating your own themed meal fun, and we’d love it if you shared your St. Patrick’s Day ideas with us in the comments.
Q: What’s Irish and stays out all night?
A: Paddy O’Furniture (groan!).
