Food Matters.
Unfortunately this is not the message most people seem to be receiving, at least not the ones that end up in my office. I cannot count the number of times I have heard a patient say, “My doctor told me that what I eat doesn’t make a difference.”
I am here to reassure you that what you eat does make a difference. How could it not?
We glean the nutrients we need for every single function our cells perform from the food that we eat. It is our fuel source. Saying what you eat doesn’t matter is like saying water is a perfectly acceptable fuel source for your car. Just like our cars, we need the right fuel to perform effectively.
The food we eat should be packed full of nutrients.
There is no way of getting around this if you want to feel well. If you eat food lacking in nutrients it is only a matter of time before your car breaks down. The problem is the breakdown is insidious and we often ignore the warning signs.
Here are some common warning signs that indicate you need to start paying more attention to the nutrient density of the food you eat:
- Fatigue
- Mental fog
- Joint pain
- Heartburn
- Constipation or loose stool
- Gas or bloating
- Frequent infections
- Weight gain
Serious health conditions also get better when you eat the right food.
Have you already skipped through the warning signs and are dealing with a serious health condition? I have seen everything from eczema, colitis, heart disease, and diabetes get better when people are able to critically evaluate the nutrient density of the food they are eating…and then choose to change it. They are able to take back control of their health.
You can too, you just have to choose.
