Have you ever wondered how to keep making progress toward your healthy eating goals without losing your friends?
Many of us on a quest for better eating habits run into one or more of the following situations:
- The friend who guilts you into movie popcorn (“You won’t let me eat this big bag alone?”)
- The mother who acts hurt when you pass on her signature dessert (“But I made this just for you!”)
- The spouse who insists on the nightly glass of wine (“Oh come on, you’ve still gotta live a little!”)
If any of these situations sound familiar, then this Eat Real Food TV episode is for you!
I’m going to let you in on two simple tricks for enjoying the best of both worlds — forging ahead with your real food goals and keeping your relationships intact.
When you’re finished watching, I want to hear from you. What’s one way that you’ve improved a relationship while sticking to real food choices? Leave us a comment below.

Thanks for this info – at 68 years old and after a few months of trying the eat real food recipes (which I love by the way) I am now seeing at our most recent family Thanksgiving dinner the subtle pressures which arise from family members when they see I am choosing to eat differently.
There is definitely some pressure at an event like this when family all bring in traditional favourite recipes(which in the past I ate without much thought.
It would have been much easier to avoid hurting feelings by eating those foods but now I am able to say truthfully that I feel better now that I am avoiding some of the old favourites (I must admit I did receive some pitying glances)
Thanks for providing more than just recipes to help us on our way.
Thanks for your comment, Linda, and way to go on all the progress you’ve made already! I’m so glad you found this episode helpful. There’s definitely a learning curve to being able to maintain your integrity in the presence of outside pressure, but it never ceases to amaze me how much better you feel when you master this skill, AND how it has the potential to positively influence others (compared with preaching, arguing, etc.). Keep up the great work!
