Let’s face it. Processed food isn’t good for you.
While we may know this on some level, food marketers have done such a good job at selling us on the convenience and marginal health benefits of packaged food (hey, it does keep us alive and feeds the masses) that no matter how health-conscious we are it can still creep in here and there.
As a busy working mom, I get how handy it is to buy store bought chicken broth versus making it from our own backyard chickens who dined on our kitchen scraps all year long.
But when we realize what’s lurking in fake food – like, inflammatory oils, artificial sweeteners, and chemically altered fats – we can become inspired to kick it to the curb and eat real food instead.
We’ve been having a lot of fun over on my Facebook page this week playing Name This Product, where I post an ingredient label and challenge you to guess the food product.
One thing is for sure – there are some incredibly savvy label readers in this community. Nice work, everyone!
I wanted to give you a taste of the fun we’re having in today’s post.
Are you ready for the answers?
- Kraft Ranch Dressing
- Digiorno Spinach and Mushroom Pizza
- Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup
- Ritz Crackers
- Chips Ahoy Cookies
- Sweet Barbecue Sauce
How did you do on that little quiz? Are you a savvy label reader or is there room for improvement? What product surprised you the most?
I’d love to get your feedback in the comments below and have you join in the fun over on Facebook.
: Here are my guesses:
